La Nacional Gallery
La Nacional Gallery is a cultural project that I started in 2016 with the intention of bringing back the attention to the artistic, social and historical importance of La Nacional – Spanish Benevolent Society, center and organization on which it depends.
La Nacional is located in the Chelsea neighborhood, also known as the current center of Manhattan’s art galleries. Unlike these, La Nacional Gallery is under the work of La Nacional – Spanish Benevolent Society, a non-profit organization that does not intend to commercialize with artistic work but aims to supply a cultural and local need that transcends the art market. In this, younger and less established artists also have a place.
Within the goals of La Nacional Gallery, it is the promotion of contemporary art exhibitions that mainly affects the growth of the prestige of Spanish and Spanish-speaking artists who currently reside in New York, and the documentary and preservation of the artistic heritage of the center, reactivating some works of artists less recognized through their exposure in permanent areas of the building and their dissemination on this website and networks.
La Nacional Gallery es un proyecto cultural que comencé en 2016 con la intención de recuperar la atención sobre la importancia artística, social e histórica de La Nacional – Spanish Benevolent Society, centro y organización de la que depende.
Ésta organización está ubicada en el barrio de Chelsea, también conocido como el actual centro de las galerías de arte de Manhattan. No obstante, a diferencia de éstas, La Nacional Gallery está bajo la labor de La Nacional – Sociedad Española de Beneficencia, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que no pretende comercializar con obras de arte, sino que pretende suplir una necesidad cultural y local que trasciende el mercado del arte, dando cabida y lugar a los artistas más jóvenes y menos establecidos.
Dentro de los objetivos de la La Nacional Gallery, está la difusión de exposiciones de arte contemporáneo que promocionan el crecimiento y prestigio de los artistas españoles o de habla hispana que residen actualmente en Nueva York, así como la documentación y conservación del patrimonio artístico del centro, reactivando algunas obras de artistas menos reconocidos a través de su exposición en espacios permanentes del edificio y su difusión en esta página web y redes.
